I was not totally surprised how well this product performed because my daughter in Florida owns one and used it while I visited her home. In the past 30 yrs. I've spent alot of money having a company out to clean my carpeting and could not afford to have the furniture cleaned because they charged twice as much than the carpeting. We have had this Hoover just over two years now in our 2 kid, 3 lab, 2 cat household (read: used at least 2-3 times per month). During this time, two internal hoses (the one that sucks up and the one they dispenses cleaner) have both broken - twice each. They do not even break at the same time, so I'm at a loss. Not anything like I hoped. Unfortunatly, it was purchased just a little over 1 yr ago, so can't return/exchange it. It wasn't used at all until last month, 1st time I actually had to use it since purchase, & i'm VERY disappointed. The water comes out ice cold, not steam vac as stated even on product. No matter what I do, even putting hot water in from microwave, water is still ice cold. Dosen't do well cleaning just simple stains, & even after going over carpets 2 to 3x, it just dosen't ......

I bought this cleaner because my Bissel conked out, and our dogs are, well, dogs.

Let me get this out of the way first. It works well. It cleans the carpet, and gets out the dirt, as evidenced by the black water that comes out of our rug.

As I recall you do have to do some adjusting depending upon exactly which model cleaner you have, but if you are replacing it, likely you have the ability to do this if necessary. You can pay more and get a more exact model I believe, but this is a great product for the money.

Because this advertised Oxy I expected a really clean, fresh scent and powerful cleaning. I got neither. Don't get me wrong, it works, but it works as well as the regular shampoo that comes with the carpet cleaner.

Whether I would buy this particular type of carpet detergent for every carpet cleaning job is questionable. However, it does "spot out" those "Oh No!" accidents whether they be from pets, children or messy adults.
